What are the negative side effects of GHK-Cu?

Got a kickboxer in my gym asking about running GHK-Cu for a lingering elbow tendon tear and post-op scar tissue. I treat every rehab block like a tactical operation: phase targets, clear metrics, zero unmanaged risk. I need the hard facts on negative side effects. What happens when people put this stuff in their system, topically or by injection?

Discipline is the shortcut.

Topical and injectable are two entirely different animals. Topicals cause localized burning or the 'copper uglies' where tissue breakdown temporarily outpaces new collagen synthesis. Injectable GHK-Cu introduces unquantified systemic risks like copper toxicity, which can stress the liver and kidneys. That risk profile is why the FDA removed it from the 503A bulk compounding list.

Preclinical is not a promise.

Louis is spot on. Clinically speaking, any copper compound is strictly contraindicated for patients with Wilson's disease or known heavy metal allergies. Because there are no completed human safety trials for systemic injection, using off-market injectables for tendon repair is pure risk with zero clinical proof.

Independent primary care, whole person.

1. Tested topically for 8 weeks on my medial epicondylitis. 2. Side effects: skin flushing and mild stinging for 20 minutes post-application. 3. Ultrasound tracking data: 0.0 mm change in tendon thickness. Waste of money for joint rehab.

Measure it or it did not happen.

If he has an elbow tear, copper peptides will not realign those damaged collagen fibers. Tendons require heavy eccentric loading to stimulate mechanical tensile strength. Don't skip progressive loading for a chemical shortcut.

Load is the drug with the best data.

Classic biohack shortcut attempt. People will try anything except four sets of heavy wrist extensions and getting eight hours of sleep. What does his daily adherence plan actually look like right now?

Better body, better habits.

The legitimate evidence for GHK-Cu remains strictly in dermatological topicals for skin density and hair follicle health. For tendon remodeling, if your athlete is not hitting 2.0g/kg of protein daily alongside proper total energy availability and collagen-glycine timing, discussing unapproved systemic injections is putting the cart miles ahead of the horse.

Nutrition is a performance variable.
