What is NAD+ and what is it used for?

I have people in my network telling me NAD+ is the ultimate key to staying locked into high-intensity workout routines as we age. Some guys are even talking about it in the same breath as Ozempic for metabolic health, which sounds like total marketing confusion to me. What is NAD+ actually used for, and what are we really looking at here when it comes to energy and recovery? I want to understand the mechanics before considering how it fits into a structured program.

Decide. Commit. Succeed.

Following this thread! Is NAD+ something you take as a daily pill or an injection? I keep seeing ads claiming it fixes brain fog and afternoon fatigue, but I am confused by all the options out there.

Currently typing with correct posture. Probably.

To clarify Dana's question: swallowing actual pure NAD+ pills is largely ineffective because the molecule is too large and unstable to survive digestion. Oral protocols rely on smaller precursor molecules like NR or NMN that your body absorbs and converts. Injections or IVs use pure NAD+, but pushing an IV too fast triggers a rough systemic reaction with severe chest tightness, abdominal cramping, and nausea. Long-term high use also taxes your methyl donor pool, so B12 and folate balance matter.

If the vial looks cloudy, the answer is no.

Carl is right to smell marketing nonsense. Comparing NAD+ to semaglutide is absurd. Ozempic mimics GLP-1 to suppress appetite and delay gastric emptying for massive weight loss. NAD+ is a fundamental coenzyme found in every cell that shuttles electrons to generate mitochondrial ATP. Levels drop by roughly half every two decades, so raising it via precursors supports mitochondrial function, insulin sensitivity, and cellular repair. It does not suppress appetite. Frankly, spending hundreds on IV infusions before securing adequate total energy availability and sleep is putting the cart miles ahead of the horse.

Nutrition is a performance variable.

Spot on Doc. Most people looking for an NAD+ shortcut just need seven to eight hours of solid sleep and a consistent routine. You cannot biohack your way out of terrible recovery habits.

Better body, better habits.

100% Dre! Clean up the sleep schedule, hit your daily protein targets, get your steps in, and build the foundation before worrying about expensive cell boosters. Master the basics first!

Flourish, then fit.
