Is TB-500 legal right now

Ok so I keep seeing mixed info and I'm getting confused. Is TB-500 actually legal to get compounded right now or is it still blocked. I thought BPC and TB were basically in the same boat but someone in another thread said TB is a step behind. Can someone break down where things actually stand as of now, not just vibes

You're right that it's behind BPC-157. TB-500 got put on the FDA's restricted category back in 2023 which meant compounding pharmacies couldn't touch it. That restriction got pulled this past April because the original petitions against it were withdrawn, but it never got moved onto the approved list either. So right now it's sitting in limbo, not explicitly banned from compounding, not explicitly cleared either. Pharmacies are being conservative because of that ambiguity.

If the vial looks cloudy, the answer is no.

So basically it went from red light to yellow light but not green. I have a spreadsheet tab for this now, don't judge me.

Measure it or it did not happen.

To add the missing piece, the advisory committee that reviews these bulk substances actually voted in July to recommend TB-500 for the approved compounding list. It was a close vote and it went against what the FDA's own staff had recommended. That's not nothing but a committee recommendation is not the same as final rulemaking. The realistic timeline for that to become official, if it happens, is late this year into early next year. Until then it's a gray zone, exactly what Nadia described.

Doesn't matter what the FDA does if you're tested. WADA has it banned outright, S2 category, no threshold, no exceptions. Any of you still competing need to have that conversation with yourselves before anything else.

Yeah I tell my athletes this every season. Doesn't matter how good the healing story sounds, one of them tests positive and it's over. Not worth the risk for a high schooler with college aspirations.

Worth noting the committee overruling their own staff isn't unusual, they did the same thing with BPC-157. Doesn't mean the staff was wrong, just means the vote went a certain way. I'd hold off calling this a done deal.

Preclinical is not a promise.

So the honest answer is nobody actually knows and everyone's guessing with confidence. Cool cool cool.

What about the research grade stuff people buy online in the meantime. Is that a real option or just asking for trouble

Still here. Still slow.

Mod_HelenMadison, WI2 points15d ago
We don't do sourcing discussion here, that's a hard line. What I'll say generally is research grade product isn't made to pharmaceutical standards and there's no quality control behind it. People make their own choices but I'm not going to let this turn into a where-to-buy thread.

Read the pinned rules. They are short.

I've been going through a clinician for mine and honestly the waiting is annoying but I'd rather have someone accountable for what's in the vial. Fingers crossed the rule actually finalizes soon, my prescriber said she's watching it closely too.

While everyone's waiting on paperwork, don't forget the loading program is still doing 95 percent of the work regardless of what's in the syringe. Legal status changes, tendon capacity building doesn't.

You cannot inject your way out of a bad program.

This actually clears it up a lot, thank you. Guess I'm in wait and see mode along with everyone else.
